I believe that cooking is a direct reflection of the personality of the chef.
Whether professionally trained or completely self taught, what a chef cooks, and the tools and techniques he/she uses are all decisions based on personal preference and comfort. Although all chef's (professional and amateur alike) will have certain basic tools in common, such as knives, pots, and pans, your preference, and passion, in the kitchen will to a large extent dictate the specialty equipment you purchase. Much of that equipment will be in the form of small electric kitchen appliances.
Small electric kitchen appliances exist that can perform virtually any type of specialized task.
Although many small electric kitchen appliances have universal appeal (blender, coffee maker, microwave oven, toaster), some are cuuisine dependent. If your love is Italian cuisine, chances are you'll have a pasta machine. Love to bake, a stand mixer. Asian food, an electric steamer or rice cooker, and the list goes on. So unless you're planning to audition for Iron Chef, or have an insatiable need to purchase every type of appliance and gadget available, chances are you'll actually purcahse only one or two of the small electric kitchen appliances that are available.
